Suburban Cowgirl

When: Saturday, June 4

I am finding that it is easier to take outfit pictures on the weekend and then just post them throughout the week. I know that it will get easier once I am off for the summer to take daily pictures, but I have gotten lazy lately as I am wrapping up the school year.

I purchased this dress last year and wore it quite a bit last summer. It was the shortest dress/skirt that I owed at the time, but the airiest to wear for a hot summer day. I packed it when I headed to Columbia, SC last summer for my brother's graduation from boot camp. I knew that it was going to be hot so I wanted something that would be cool to wear.

The idea for the adding the belt was my sister's idea. I had taken the belt with me to Columbia and she styled me. It was the first time that I realized how accessories can transform an outfit. I added the necklace on my own for this photo shoot.
I had wanted to pack my boots, but I couldn't bring myself to actually follow through with that idea. I wasn't into taking any fashion risks at that time so I avoided any ideas that I came up with that would put me at risk. The irony of this was that when Laurie and I headed to Charleston, SC for the weekend we met an amazing group of ladies from Georgia and guess what? Yep, they were ALL wearing cowboy boots with their dresses and skirts!  I spent the rest of the weekend "kicking" myself for not trusting myself with my styling ideas.

Obviously, things have changed since I started blogging;)

Enjoy!

XOXO,

Julie

  2. I love this look! The hair, the boots, the belt? Definitely adds style to a neutral dress!
