Bloggers Do It Better: Move Over Blair Waldorf There's A New Queen Bee In Town

When: Wednesday, May 18

I am a closet Gossip Girl fan. Although it probably doesn't come as a huge surprise since the clothes on the show are so very fabulous! I would love to just wander around the wardrobe department with free reign to try on anything that I wanted to until my hearts content. When this weeks challenge for Bloggers Do It Better by Kristina of Pretty Shiny Sparkly was announced and it was masculine preppy wear I immediately thought of Gossip Girl and their lovely prep school uniforms. I am not a real preppy person, although at one time I could have been given that label. I usually tend to be attracted to clothes with a more modern edge to them so I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to easily put together an outfit that not only fit the requirements, but also an outfit that I really loved. In fact I was so inspired by the theme that I even stayed in the preppy state of mind with Thursday outfit as well! I will post those pictures tomorrow.
Enjoy!

XOXO,

Julie

  1. holy bologna! this is precious! I love the pattern mixing as well as the girly tiered mini with the tie and blazer. that blazer is also probably THE best thing in the world. also, I am SO glad you like the short hair love button! haha, there are far too few of us. and you wear them headbands, girl, it's really the only thing, besides head scarves and a few smaller barrettes, that we have to play with!

  2. Alex,

Head scarves! I need to know how to wear those. I love head scarves. You should do a tutorial. I think that hair is an accessory so my tends to change often. It has been proving to improve my style since the new cut gives me an edgier look which is what I have been going for lately. At the same time, though, it can be so chic as well. I cannot see myself ever growing it out long again.

    Sincerely and with thanks,

    Julie

  9. Great mixing of patterns! I love this look! I watch Gossip Girl too, for the clothes (and maybe for Chuck too, whatever). I wore a yellow tie for the challenge as well. It's such a great pop of color.
